Thumbs up!
Thumbing Station, 230 E. Main St., Aspen
Going my way?
A three-decade icon went missing in Aspen last fall when someone stole the Thumbing Station sign from its downtown post. Outraged citizens who knew Aspen when the town was more hippie than haute demanded its replacement. City crews welded the new metal sign, made by Aspen sign painter Gaard Moses, onto its post last week.
Yes, we can ride
The Freedom Riders, 2:30 p.m. EST, Jan. 20, Presidential Inauguration Parade, Pennsylvania Avenue between Third and 17th streets, Washington;
The cowgirl way.
The Greeley-based, all-female, uber-patriotic Freedom Riders rode in the 2005 inaugural parade. They’ll be back next week to celebrate Barack Obama with painstakingly choreographed horseback drills, carrying 6-by-8-foot U.S. flags.
