YANKTON, S.D.—Some members of a committee that’s looking into the future of the old Meridian Bridge across the Missouri River at Yankton say they wonder if the state Transportation Department is going back on an agreement to convert it for bicycle and pedestrian use. The estimated conversion cost has risen from less than $2 million earlier this decade to $2.5 million in January 2007 and, finally, to $5.5 million in November 2008.
