Little cowpokes and cowgirls can get the feel of the saddle, with a saddle belt, in the Children’s Ranchland atop Welsh ponies with names such as Dr. Pepper, Twinkie, Gem and Dolly.

The Great American Pony Ride has eight miniature horses on a carousel, escorted by attendants for children older than 1 who weigh less than 80 pounds. Parents can purchase a $1 coloring book featuring the ponies.

Cost: $6 a ride; $7 and $10 for photos

Canine lovers can howl at the Dog Agility Games, which draw more than 50 obedient, fun-loving canines to dash through mazes, catch balls and leap hurdles.

The popular annual event draws every breed from statuesque Great Danes to nervous Chihuahuas to weave through cones and tunnels, walk over seesaws and sprint to the finish line for scores.
