DENVER—Colorado Attorney General John Suthers says a man accused of working as a paramedic for 17 months without proper training or certification has pleaded guilty to a felony criminal impersonation charge.
Forty-one-year-old Todd Teel entered his plea this week in Denver District Court.
Prosecutors say he provided American Medical Response of Denver a falsified certificate saying he had received the required training to be a paramedic.
The complaint, filed in October, alleged that Teel then worked as a paramedic in AMR ambulances between June 2006 and December 2007.
Teel faces up to 1 1/2 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines when he is sentenced March 6.
Suthers’ office says Teel left AMR in December 2007 and is living in Wyoming. He is free on $5,000 bond.
The office says it’s not aware of any allegations that patients were harmed by Teel’s lack of certification.
