WRAY, Colo.—A small-plane on approach to Wray Municipal Airport during weather with poor visibility crashed and burned, killing both people onboard.

National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson says the pilot had been in contact with air traffic controllers Thursday seeking direction because of poor visibility. The dual-engine, 11-passenger Gulfstream AC-90 crashed about 7 miles north of the airport about 7:30 a.m. MT.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says the plane went up in flames following the impact. Wray is about 140 miles east of Denver.

The plane is registered to a man in Palmer, Texas.
