COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A fine weekend for most, but not in Colorado Springs, where above-average temperatures are leaving an ice sculpture display all wet.

A dozen or so sculptures were set up Saturday in the Old Colorado City district of Colorado Springs. But the sunny day and temperatures in the 50s melted an inch an hour off the sculptures.

Ice sculptors say their works are holding up OK, but that soft ice is harder to sculpt. They were planning to store their works in restaurant freezers overnight.

More scultpures were planned for Sunday, including a locomotive made from 12 blocks of ice. Temperatures are again expected to reach the upper 50s.
