FORT GARLAND — A parole violator who bolted when police stopped a car he was riding in and who eluded searchers who were using dogs and a helicopter was arrested at his parents’ house in Fort Garland.

Jesse Sloan, 39, was wanted by the Colorado Department of Corrections for parole violation on original charges of escape and theft.

Officials said Sloan jumped from the car he was riding in Tuesday and fled into a field when the car was pulled over by Weld County sheriff’s deputies. Officers on Saturday found Sloan and his girlfriend, Lori McNitt, who had been driving the car, in his parents’ house.

Authorities found the vehicle that had been involved in the traffic stop at a business in Alamosa where Sloan’s father worked.

McNitt was taken into custody on suspicion of obstructing the investigation. The Associated Press
