GREELEY, Colo.—Portland State was held to its lowest total of the season Sunday, but the effort was enough to defeat a Northern Colorado team that notched its lowest point total in half a century, 57-43.
Northern Colorado (7-12 overall, 3-3 Big Sky Conference) was down just one, 27-26, at halftime. But the Bears scored just 17 second-half points as Portland State (14-5, 5-1) pulled away.
Northern Colorado hadn’t scored so few points in 51 years, when it lost to Idaho State 72-40 in 1958.
Portland State’s Jeremiah Dominguez, the reigning Big Sky Conference MVP, scored just 5 points in the contest.
Portland State is now 9-0 all-time against Northern Colorado.
