JEFFERSON COUNTY — A man who fell 30 feet while fishing along the South Platte River on Monday afternoon was rescued and taken to an area hospital.

The victim, whose name was not released, was fishing along the South Platte River near Deckers when he fell off a ledge 30 feet to the ground about 3:10 p.m.

He was rescued about 5 1/2 hours later, as crews waited for the proper gear to get him out of the rocky terrain. He was taken by helicopter to an area hospital. His injuries and condition were not available.

The man was fishing along the Gill Trail near the Wigwam Campground when he fell.
