Windstorms earlier this month left most people who were brave enough to go outdoors hunched over, eyes scrunched closed and racing to get back out of harm’s way.

But Denver Post photographer RJ Sangosti couldn’t keep his eyes off of what was happening on the Pattridge open space property, east of the BFI Foothills Landfill, in Arvada.

Along a trail south of West 82nd Avenue, the near history of the holidays swept out of the dump and onto the prairie, and wound itself around wires and plants to create a series of unstill-life scenes that Sangosti captured with a borrowed film camera. For the record, landfill crews do attempt to pick up the free-flying trash, but an endless number of windy days in the area make it a never-ending battle.
