EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Kenny Lawson scored 16 points and hot-shooting Creighton scored 34 points off the bench to beat Evansville 79-57 Tuesday night in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Justin Carter had 14 and Casey Harriman 11 off the bench for the Bluejays (15-5, 5-3), who shot 57 percent from the field and 56 percent from three-point range. Creighton outrebounded the Purple Aces 39-27.
Shy Ely had 26 points and nine rebounds for Evansville (12-6, 4-4), but was the only player in double figures for the Purple Aces. Evansville shot just 40 percent overall and trailed 46-29 at halftime.
After the break, the Bluejays went on a 15-4 run to take a 30-point lead with 14:05 left. The Purple Aces never got closer than 20 after that.
Evansville did outshoot Creighton from the free-throw line, making 14 of 20 to 9 of 18 for the Bluejays.
