After flirting with a record-high temperature Tuesday and falling short, Denver’s weather made the record books Wednesday.
The official temperature hit 71 degrees at 1:28 p.m.
Tuesday’s high temperature in the city had topped out at 67 degrees, three short of the record 70 degrees. Wednesday’s previous record high — set in 1950 — also was 70.
Sunny, mild weather should continue in Denver today, with a forecast high temperature of 65 degrees under mostly sunny skies, the National Weather Service said.
But that will be the end of the warm spell.
Today, skies should turn mostly cloudy overnight into Friday as a cold front brings a chance for snow. Friday’s high temperature in the city should be about 43 degrees, and there’s a 30 percent chance for snow after 11 a.m., the Weather Service reports.
