The 20th Hall of Fame class for the Colorado High School Activities Association was inducted Wednesday in Aurora. Feted were Olympic silver medalist Matt Hemingway, formerly a Buena Vista Demon; Montbello track and field coach Don Gatewood, also a champion as a city competitor; longtime Lakewood coach Tom Hancock, who instituted local prep weightlifting; veteran Douglas County coach and administrator Don McCall, who has worked in Colorado schools for more than four decades; Eastern Plains administrator Jim Poole; Coronado coach and volleyball official Joan Powell; Ken Soper, a 44-year coach at Dove Creek; and the 1924 Windsor boys basketball team, which won two Colorado titles, as well as a national championship in Chicago.
