A Summit County sheriff’s deputy accidentally shot herself in the leg during routine target practice Wednesday night, authorities say.
The deputy, whose name has not been released, was taken at 5:20 p.m. to St. Anthony Summit Medical Center for treatment with a minor injury and is resting comfortably, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Department.
The injured deputy was taking target practice in the law-enforcement section of the Summit County Public Firing Range on Landfill Road.
