BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Sun Microsystems Inc. has given layoff notifications to 1,300 employees, including 195 in Broomfield and Louisville.
Thursday’s notifications come two months after the company announced plans to reduce its global work force by 15 percent to 18 percent.
Sun Microsystems didn’t provide a breakout of the layoffs by location.
However, a filing made Thursday with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment said 164 people who work at the company’s Broomfield campus and 31 people assigned to the Louisville campus, which Sun sold to ConocoPhillips, are expected to lose their jobs between March 23 and April 6.
The filing says two workers at Sun Microsystems’ Colorado Springs site also are expected to lose their jobs during that time.
