Denver’s record-setting high of 71 degrees on Wednesday is just a warm memory.
A cold front brought snow and chilly temperatures to the state, with most of the snow in the mountains.
Interstate 70 was closed in both directions near Georgetown for more than an hour because of multiple accidents in the snow. The highway was reopened about 6:30 p.m., but the Colorado State Patrol said there were long delays.
In the metro area, flurries were already falling by rush hour.
Accumulations in the city will be light — less than an inch this evening as temperatures stay in the 20s.
In the mountains today, a winter-weather advisory is in effect for the Park and Gore ranges, and snow accumulations in those areas could reach up to 8 inches by sundown.
Tomorrow in Denver, skies should be partly sunny, and the high temperature should be about 48 degrees, the weather service said.
