MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies will introduce Lionel Hollins as their new coach at a news conference today.

The Grizzlies fired Marc Iavaroni on Thursday, and Johnny Davis acted as interim coach on Friday, when Memphis lost 108-88 at New York. Davis directed the team again Saturday night in a 99-88 home loss to the New Jersey Nets.

Memphis general manager Chris Wallace said Friday night in New York that the team hoped to sign Hollins, a Milwaukee assistant. Wallace said he wanted Hollins to be able to run practices before Tuesday’s home game with Denver.

Heat’s Marion sidelined.

Heat forward Shawn Marion did not play in Miami’s game against the Orlando Magic on Saturday night because of a strained left groin.

Marion missed last Sunday’s game at Oklahoma City with the same problem, then tried to play Wednesday against the Boston Celtics but left that game after only eight minutes.

He didn’t practice Friday and was held out of the Heat shootaround practice Saturday morning. Treatment during the day couldn’t solve the problem.

Marion — the subject of numerous trade rumors in recent weeks — is averaging 12 points and a team- best nine rebounds for Miami this season.
