HACKENSACK, N.J.—Two Colorado men are facing murder charges in what authorities say was a plot to obtain insurance money from the father of one of them.

William Silvi was indicted on Friday in state Superior Court in Hackensack. He and brother-in-law Daniel Tunks are charged with murder, conspiracy and weapons offenses in the death of Silvi’s father, William Marcucci, in Saddle Brook last May.

Marcucci was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in his car in a restaurant parking lot.

Prosecutors say Silvi recruited Tunks to shoot Marcucci so the men could collect $750,000 in insurance.

Silvi and Tunks were arrested last August in Colorado Springs. Tunks is being held at Bergen County Jail on $1.5 million bail and Silvi is being held without bail.

Attorneys for both men say their clients are innocent.
