Weld County deputies are searching for a suspect in an attempted homicide after a police chase that ended when his car crashed and he ran away.

Margie Martinez, Weld County undersheriff, said the suspect is Nick Label, 26, who is wanted for shooting Phillip Romero on Dec. 6. Police think a failed drug deal led to the shooting.

A bomb squad came to the scene Saturday night to investigate an item found in the crashed car.

Label is white, 5 feet 6 inches, 107 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information on Label’s whereabouts should call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at 970-356-4015, ext 2700.

Sheriff’s Office says after a short pursuit, the driver crashed the car near a house and ran away.
