ALAMOSA, Colo.—Investigators say alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in a crash between a car and a go-cart in Alamosa County that killed a 7-year-old boy and sent his brother to a hospital.
The Colorado State Patrol says Dominic Miramontes was a passenger on a go-cart driven by his older brother shortly before noon Saturday when they pulled out of a driveway onto a county road and were struck by a car.
Dominic was killed, while 9-year-old Daniel Miramontes was thrown from the go-cart. He was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Aurora, where he was listed in critical condition.
Authorities say a 28-year-old Alamosa woman was driving the 2000 Ford Escape that hit the cart.
She has not been arrested or charged, and an investigation is under way.
