BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Diving crews and detectives have been searching for evidence upstream from a ditch where the body of a 13-year-old girl was discovered last month.
The West Metro Fire District says its crews were helping Broomfield authorities look for evidence Wednesday in the death of Kelsey Shannon. Police say they won’t comment.
The girl’s former boyfriend, 18-year-old Alexander Pacheco, is being held without bail on suspicion of murder and other charges.
Court records show Kelsey was expected to testified against Pacheco in a theft case. She disappeared in October and her body was found Jan. 21.
Officials have not determined a cause of death.
