Officials are asking for help as they investigate the Greyrock Meadow fire that burned 35 acres northwest of Fort Collins earlier this week.

The human-caused fire was first reported Monday on Greyrock Mountain, which is adjacent to Poudre Canyon. The blaze caused no injuries, and no structures were threatened. It was put out Tuesday with the help of 27 firefighters from three agencies.

The area is a large meadow with grass, shrubs and a few pine trees.

Officials are seeking information about a white man who was hiking on the Greyrock Trail on Monday afternoon. He was wearing a large backpack and had a black Lab with him.

Officials also want to find the owners of three vehicles in the trailhead parking lot: a late model Range Rover Country, LWB; a Jeep CJ; a Ford F150; and a Subaru.

Anyone with information is asked to call U.S. Forest Service special investigator Kim Jones at 970-217-0357.
