A fabulous four-course dinner with wine isn’t the only reason to buy a ticket for a Junior League of Denver fundraiser being held Tuesday at nine75.
Attendees will be among the first to see the cover for the Junior League of Denver’s fifth cookbook, “Colorado Classique,” which is due out in June.
In a bold but exciting move, the cover features a John Fielder photograph taken at Sneffels Range Ranch near Telluride.
Tuesday’s dinner, planned and prepared by nine75 chef Jose Guerrero, also is the first in a series of special events promoting the JLD’s 2010 Kitchens That Cook! tour of unique and spectacular Denver kitchens.
The nine75 event is open to the public. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased by visiting . A limited number will be available at the door for $75. The restaurant is at 975 Lincoln St., Denver.
By choosing an image other than food for the cover, the Colorado Classique committee is hoping to attract the attention of cooks around the world who have a special interest in Colorado or the American West. “We feel the cover is as inviting as the fresh and healthy recipes inside,” says cookbook chairwoman Stephanie Duncan. “We also predict it will become a best seller, just like all of our others, and will grace the counters of cooks for years to come. It’s also the first of our cookbooks to include nutritional information for each recipe and to be published following ‘green’ standards.”
Each section is illustrated by additional Fielder photographs, and in addition to member-generated recipes, there will be a chapter dedicated to signature dishes from favorite Colorado restaurants.
The four previous JLD cookbooks — “Colorado Collage,” “Creme de Colorado,” “Colorado Cache” and “Colorado Colore” — have sold more than 1.7 million copies.
More good stuff.
