Lindsey Vonn’s winning world championships downhill run Monday was almost perfect, but her execution while celebrating left something to be desired.
Vonn cut her right thumb opening a bottle of champagne and required four stitches to close the wound. The mishap is not expected to hamper her in the final two events of the championships.
“I really think I’m safer skiing downhill at 85 miles per hour,” Vonn joked. “I’m in a little bit of pain, but this shouldn’t slow me down.”
