JAPAN AMERICA SOCIETY OF COLORADO: Honored Richard K. Clark, a partner with Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP, with the Pioneer Award. Clark was recognized for his significant contributions to building a strong relationship between Colorado and the people of Japan.

DENVER HEALTH: Announced that Dr. Joel Garcia, director, interventional services and catheterization laboratory, was recently named one of 25 international winners of the 2009 Cardiovascular Research Technologies’ Emergent Young Leadership Award. This award recognizes excellence in physicians practicing interventional cardiology and endovascular medicine.

THE DENVER HOSPICE: Named Lewis Sapiro, retired owner of Breeze Ski Rentals, and Robin Rich, vice president of JPMorgan Chase Bank, to its board of directors.

KELLY SERVICES: Appointed Linda Switzer as district manager of the Colorado Springs region.

DORSEY & WHITNEY LLP: Lynn Hsu has joined as an associate in the patent group.

UNIVERSITY OF DENVER: The Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning hired Jamie Van Leeuwen, project manager of Denver’s Road Home and chair of the Mayor’s Drug Strategy Commission, to coordinate and lead the center’s domestic and international immersion programs.

UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO:Andrea O’Reilly Herrera, an ethnic-studies professor at CU-Colorado Springs, and Mary Coussons-Read, who teaches psychology at CU-Denver, have won the 2008 Elizabeth D. Gee Memorial Lectureship Award, which honors teaching, scholarship and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance women in higher education.

LINHART PUBLIC RELATIONS: Named Kelly Janhunen, an account supervisor, as a partner of the firm.

ASSOCIATION OF FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS: The Colorado Chapter named Cory Andersen, development manager for the Cable Center, as the Outstanding Up and Coming Professional for 2008.
