Colorado Mammoth forward Dan Carey is doubtful for Saturday’s National Lacrosse League game against undefeated Calgary at 7 p.m. at the Pepsi Center. Carey, who missed the last five games of the 2008 season because of a concussion, has neck and head symptoms.

“It could be one of 100 things, but we want to make sure it is not related to the concussion he had last season,” coach Bob McMahon said Wednesday.

Carey, the team’s fourth-leading scorer, was scratched from the lineup for Saturday’s 13-8 victory at Minnesota. Also, defenseman Chris Gill has a broken bone in his foot and is sidelined until after the March 7 All-Star Game.

Barnes, Ammerman will get a look.

Colorado State’s Mekana Barnes and former Chaparral High School standout Sarah Ammerman are among the 160 players invited to the U.S. women’s volleyball national team tryouts in Colorado Springs.

Barnes, named an All-American her senior season last year, is one of 40 middle blockers on the tryout list. Ammerman, a senior-to-be at Texas A&M, attended the tryouts last year and was on the U.S. women’s senior A2 national team. She joins 43 other outside hitters in Colorado Springs.
