LINCOLN, Neb.—Authorities are looking for a former University of Nebraska football player who had been given pretrial diversion on a theft case last summer.

The new allegation against 25-year-old Andre Jones is that he forged a signature on papers for a $20,000 loan.

In the original case, Lincoln police said Jones had stolen a plasma TV worth about $2,800 from the basement of a home where he’d been staying.

Police tracked down the TV at a pawn shop. The felony charge against him was dismissed when he was given pretrial diversion.

Jones played cornerback for the Huskers during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

He is a native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He played junior college football at Fresno City Community College in California.
