“The Photographer’s Guide to New Mexico” ($14.95, The Countryman Press) makes it so easy to take great photos, you could almost simply walk around and copy the shots in the book, and it would be worth the money. Author Efraín Padro gives basic instructions on using a camera, but it’s the detailed instructions on how to find sites and attractions to shoot, as well as his beautiful photos to copy, that make this book a good choice. Maps help, too, and peak times for the best light are included, as well. It also serves as a guide to places to visit, including such favorites as Taos Pueblo, Acoma Sky City and Gila Cliff Dwelling National Monument, and directions on how to get there, along with special events held at the locations and time of year.
