The audience howled and the pit erupted when Swedish progressive thrashers sprung from the dark recesses of the stage Wednesday night. Their eardrum-crushing set, chock-full of riff and drum mayhem, was topped off with the potent vocals of an often silhouetted, but forceful, front man. These boys played with a vengeance. Not surprisingly, the testosterone-laden crowd responded with a gracious fury. — Tina Hagerling
