A 34-year-old Nebraska man was killed early this morning in an accident with a semi-tractor trailer about 8 miles east of Wray on U.S. 34, authorities say.

Jennie V. Suhr, 75, of Muscatine, Iowa, was charged with misdemeanor careless driving causing death, according to Trooper Gilbert Mares of the Colorado State Patrol.

The name of the victim, who is from Haigler, Neb., was not released pending notification of family members, Mares said.

Suhr was driving a semi west on U.S. 34 at about 12:56 a.m. when she lost control of the truck, which first veered off the right side of the road, then swung across both lanes of the roadway as she overcorrected, Mares said. The truck rolled onto its passenger side, blocking both lanes of the road.

The victim was driving a black 1997 Pontiac Sunfire coupe going east when he struck the semi, Mares said.

The victim, who may have been intoxicated, was not wearing a seat belt. The accident remains under investigation.
