Friends and the family of Ted Uhlaender will gather Wednesday in the Stadium Room at Coors Field to honor the former major-league baseball player, who died Thursday at his ranch near Atwood, Kan.
The memorial and reception is from 1-3 p.m. Entry into Coors Field will be through Gate C.
Uhlaender played in the major leagues for eight years with the Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. He also played Triple-A baseball for the Denver Bears when they were an affiliate of the Twins.
Uhlaender led the Pacific Coast League in hitting in 1965 with a .340 batting average while with the Bears.
After playing, Uhlaender joined the scouting department of the San Francisco Giants. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma — bone cancer — and was convalescing at his ranch.

Bentley gains hockey split with AFA.
Dustin Cloutier scored two power-play goals, leading Bentley (16-13-1, 14-9-1 Atlantic Hockey) to a 4-1 victory over 20th-ranked Air Force and a split of the weekend series in Watertown, Mass.
Jacques Lamoureux scored the lone goal for Air Force (20-8-2, 17-5-2), his 25th of the season.
Tar Heels dominate DU in lacrosse.
The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team suffered through a scoring drought of 32 minutes, 27 seconds and lost to No. 5 North Carolina 20-7 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Pioneers, ranked No. 14, gave up the first six goals of the match but scored five straight against the Tar Heels to close to 6-5 with 11:03 left in the first half. DU did not score again until the fourth quarter.
Joey Murray had three goals and an assist for DU.
• The Air Force lacrosse team also fell to a team ranked in the top five, losing 15-4 to No. 3 Maryland in Jacksonville, Fla.
