Next month, 10-time NCAA men’s basketball championship coach John Wooden can add another to the numerous accolades he’s received: induction into the NAIA Hall of Fame in Kansas City, Mo. “I feel very flattered receiving this,” said Wooden, who, in 1947 during the first of his two seasons at Indiana State, refused an invitation to what was then the NAIB tournament in Kansas City because the organization prohibited black players from competing.
