BACHELOR GULCH, Colo.—The Ritz-Carlton hotel in this mountain resort will close for a month after ski season because of slow bookings.

The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch at Beaver Creek says it isn’t taking reservations from April 14 through May 20. The shutdown means 350 employees won’t have a job, though the hotel says the jobs will return when the hotel reopens.

The temporary closure is the first in the hotel’s six-year history. However, some hotels in ski resort town routinely close for a few weeks during the slow spring season.

Managers say the Ritz-Carlton’s pool and fitness center will still be open to Bachelor Gulch homeowners.
