Denver has at least two more days of spring-like warmth before snow returns to the metro forecast Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service office in Boulder.

Today and Tuesday are expected to be sunny, with temperatures in the mid-50s in Denver.

After a high of around 40 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, the metro region has a 10 percent chance of snow each night.

The foothills near Denver could see stiff Chinook winds, with gusts up to 60 mph.

The warm, dry temperatures and brisk winds could create “erratic,” critical fire conditions along Interstate 25 south of Colorado Springs, according to the National Weather Service.

The mountains are a much different story.

Winter-storm warnings blanketed the Western Slope on Sunday evening, and a foot or more was expected in the San Juan Range and higher elevations of the central and northern mountains.

A Pacific storm rolling in later in the week could bring another foot to the mountains, forecasters said.

The Weather Service is advising anyone planning on traveling into Western Colorado through Wednesday morning to check travel conditions and plan appropriately with snow tires or chains.

The highs on Friday and Saturday in the metro region are expected to be back in the mid-50s. The high next Sunday could reach 60 in Denver, according to the longer range forecast.
