has begun using entertainment technology from Boulder-based Kerpoof Studios that allows children to use online tools for creating artwork. Disney Interactive Media Group acquired Kerpoof last July, but the transaction was not announced until Thursday while Disney tested the technology. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Kerpoof, with a staff of about 20, will continue to operate its own website on which children can create customized content including pictures, movies and interactive stories.

Disney’s acquisition of the technology will enable Disney characters to be used in the art.

Kerpoof was named by TeleCrunch, a technology blog, as one of the top new website launches of 2007. Steve Raabe, The Denver Post
