WINDSOR, Colo.—A tornado that ripped through the Windsor area last May and killed one person will be featured in a Weather Channel series called “Storm Stories” on Sunday night.
The tornado hit northern Colorado with winds between 136 and 165 mph. Fifty-two-year-old Oscar Manchester was killed at a campground near Greeley.
In Windsor, a town of 19,000, 80 homes were destroyed and 770 others were damaged. Windsor spent $2 million to repair town buildings.
Weather Channel spokesman David Blumenthal says Windsor was selected for the episode because the stories were so compelling.
He says the show’s survivor stories include the staff at a daycare center who protected the children in their care.
