DENVER—The Arapahoe County sheriff’s office says crews have contained a 200-acre grass fire that was sparked by the agency’s bomb squad during a routine training exercise.

The fire broke out at about 3 p.m. Friday in eastern Arapahoe County and prompted the evacuation of one home.

The blaze burned in a southeasterly direction, pushed by 20-25 mph winds. It was fully contained by about 6:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and no structures burned.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that it will evaluate its training protocols to determine why “appropriate precautionary and safety measures were not utilized” during the exercise.
