If you’re making the trek to Telluride, you owe it to yourself to check out the completely remodeled and renovated New Sheridan Hotel. Opened in 1891, the original Sheridan Hotel was destroyed by fire in 1894. The present brick replacement built next to the burned lot reopened as the New Sheridan Hotel a year later. The distinct Victorian appointments have been kept intact through the years and recently underwent an $8 million upgrade. Those who can’t afford the $229 to $599 per night rates should still consider dining in the expanded steakhouse downstairs or at least a nightcap at the lively bar next door.
