The University of Colorado men’s and women’s golf teams soon will have a home course, according to multiple sources.

Former CU golfer Steve Kerr, who is based in Phoenix, has purchased the former Vista Ridge Golf Club in Erie. The 7,529-yard, par-72 layout already has been renamed “Colorado National Golf Club at Vista Ridge” and will be used by the CU golf teams for practice and perhaps college tournaments.

An announcement by CU is expected within the next couple of weeks.

For the public, Colorado National Golf Club at Vista Ridge will remain a daily-fee course. It will not be owned or operated by CU.

As for the course’s ties to the university, there already are references in the clubhouse to CU, including a buffalo symbol. The golf carts will be painted in the school’s black-and-gold colors.
