Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and Councilwoman Carol Boigon on Thursday finalized a package aimed at freeing $2.45 million to alleviate budget cuts to programs that subsidize child care for the working poor and help the homeless.
The money will come from the city’s contingency fund, leaving the city with $14.3 million for contingencies.
Council members will get a full briefing on the proposal during a Wednesday committee meeting.
The portion of the package they finalized would free $1.8 million for child-care programs, $300,000 for early preschool programs and $357,000 for homeless programs.
