PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A German shepherd named Astro who has been missing more than nine years is finally home.

The dog went missing from the Geary family’s home in Port St. Lucie, Fla., shortly after the family adopted him. They have moved three times and ended up in Louisville, Ky.

On Jan. 29, an animal-control officer in Tennessee picked up Astro. Officers tracked down the family through a microchip implanted in the canine.

Dennis Geary said he wasn’t sure whether Astro would remember him. But the dog sat down and began licking him.
