— A bridge safety fee and a road safety fee would be added to the registration fees for all vehicles. The bridge safety fee would be phased in over three years.
— Over 80 percent of the vehicles registered in Colorado weigh less than 5,000 pounds, which include passenger cars, light trucks and sport utility vehicles. Owners of those vehicles would pay an extra $32 for the bridge and road fees the first year for each vehicle, $36.50 the second year, and $41 in the third and following years. The $41 charge includes a $18 bridge safety fee and a $23 road safety fee.
— Vehicles weighing under 2,000 lbs., generally motorcycles and scooters, would be charged a total of $29 after three years.
— After three years, vehicles weighing between 5,000 and 10,000 lbs. would be charged $51 and those weighing between 10,000 and 16,000 lbs. would be charged $66.
— Farm trucks used to transport crops or livestock would pay half the total fee amount.
