DENVER—The Rocky Mountain News won the public service reporting award Friday in the annual Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters contest.
The Greeley Tribune earned the second-place honor, and The Durango Herald took third in the category.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today, Daily Camera and the Rocky Mountain News won general excellence awards in their respective size categories in the competition among the state’s 31 AP member newspapers.
The awards were presented Friday night in Denver and cover work done between Sept. 1, 2007, and Aug. 31, 2008.
Awards were presented in three divisions: Division I for papers under 10,000 circulation, Division II for circulation from 10,001 to 100,000, and Division III for papers over 100,000 circulation.
