A van turned into the path of a Colorado State Patrol cruiser Saturday, injuring the trooper and five others in Grand Junction.
Trooper Kemmit White was heading west on the Interstate 70 business loop approaching 28 Road when the eastbound van turned in front of them.
The patrol car then ran into a Toyota Camry stopped at the traffic light.
The cruiser caught fire after the crash, and a passerby extinguished the flames.
The trooper, two people in the van and three people in the Camry were taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital. None of the injuries was believed to be serious.
The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating the crash. They do not suspect that alcohol and drugs factored in the collision.
