Investigators were trying late Monday to determine how a man was hit by numerous cars and killed on Interstate 70 near the Tabor Street overpass in Wheat Ridge.
The eastbound lanes of the interstate remained closed into the early morning hours.
“We don’t have anyone yet who actually saw him come off the bridge, so we don’t know if he jumped or fell or walked onto the interstate and was hit,” said Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman Lisa Stigall.
The body on the interstate was reported about 7:15 p.m. About a dozen motorists called 911 to report the body on the road, Stigall said.
“We need to talk to more witnesses,” Stigall said. “And it could be that people ran over something on the interstate and didn’t realize what they hit.”
Officials expected eastbound lanes to be open for this morning’s commute.
