DENVER—Signs that Colorado’s oldest newspaper once called downtown Denver home are gone.
Workers from a sign company on Sunday removed the name of the Rocky Mountain News from the Denver Newspaper Agency building it shared with The Denver Post.
The News published its final edition Friday after owner E.W. Scripps Co. announced a day earlier it would shutter the paper because of mounting losses.
The Rocky Mountain News closed 55 days shy of its 150th anniversary.
A small crowd watched as workers from Young Electric Sign Co. attached the three pieces of the Rocky Mountain News sign to a crane, and crane operators lowered the individual words onto a truck.
Witness Jeff Macklin said the building looked lopsided with only The Denver Post’s name still attached.
