Denver police identified the officer involved in the shooting death of a motorist Thursday as Edward Ash, who joined the department in 2006.
According to tapes, Ash radioed for a vehicle license check at 10:23 p.m. At 10:30 p.m., the dispatcher issued a call of “shots fired, man down.”
About 30 police cruisers and a police helicopter responded to East Fifth Avenue and Lafayette Street in the Denver Country Club area.
Police said Ash fired at least seven bullets through the window of the car, killing the driver, Davlon Royall Reagor, 37, who was alone.
