COLORADO SPRINGS — A former Fort Carson soldier and Iraq war veteran has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for his role in two homicides and an aggravated robbery.

Louis Bressler, 26, was sentenced Monday to 40 years for his November conviction in the December 2007 shooting death of Spc. Kevin Shields. Defense attorney Ed Farry said Bressler was sentenced to 20 years in the October 2007 aggravated robbery of a Colorado Springs woman who was stabbed.

Those two sentences will be served consecutively.

In addition, Bressler received a 12-year sentence for accessory after the fact in the August 2007 shooting death of Fort Carson Pfc. Robert James, which will run concurrently.
