AUBURN HILLS, MICH. — Former Nugget Allen Iverson will not play in Tuesday’s Pistons-Nuggets game, his agent Leon Rose confirmed, because Iverson will instead visit a specialist because of his lingering back issues.

Iverson did not play in Detroit’s past two games because to his back, two games the Pistons won at Orlando and Boston. Iverson averages a career-low 18.0 points per game this season, his first with Detroit.

On Jan. 9, Iverson scored 23 points at Pepsi Center in the Pistons’ 93-90 victory against the Nuggets.

Former Nuggets teammate Carmelo Anthony spoke to Iverson on the phone earlier this week, and Iverson told Anthony that if he played, he would be moved to the bench.

Iverson’s Pistons are 29-29, sixth in the Eastern Conference.
