Time was, TV stations bragged about the enormous expense of their snazzy news sets. These days, bragging rights go to the station whose set looks expensive but actually isn’t. After three months of construction and a weekend of rehearsals, KDVR-Channel 31 unveiled a spacious middle-of-the-newsroom set Monday occupied by anchors Libby Weaver and Ron Zappolo.
The new studio uses one-tenth of the electrical power of the old one and has thousands of LED lights capable of 258 colors to change the look of different shows. By March 30, a KWGN-Channel 2 set is expected to be completed across the hall as the stations’ merger is completed. Joanne Ostrow, The Denver Post
